UPDATE Week of April 23

So Abbey, anything happen over the weekend?

Congratulations to Abbey and Isaiah!

Isaiah. You done good.

Abbey told me that they were both so excited they kind blacked out when it all went down. But Isaiah checked - she did say yes! (more photos at the end)

Sarah Wilkins also got something put on her finger...a band-aid! Poor Sarah cut herself while washing the dishes on Tuesday night. Ouch!!!

NEEDLESS TO SAY - IT WAS NOT AN ORDINARY WEEK!

ROUND TABLE

Tucker and guest artist Abe led us in worship

We had our third and last Round Table of the year at the Davis home.

At this point it feels a little like home!
We hammered out Thank You notes

Myrtie shared a devotion

Myrtie is truly one of the gang.

LEADER LUNCH

Marshall White on the right

Five Points Capital hosted the Fellows for our Leader Lunch this week. the master of ceremonies was Marshall White, a Partner at the firm.

I have to say it was one of the most educational leader lunches we have ever had. No one around the table has spent much time dabbling in the private equity market - it was good to learn what it was!

Marshall was so good - I think if you quizzed any of us, we would be able to tell you!

thank you Marshall for your generosity toward us. We are grateful for you!

LEADERSHIP WITH NIGEL ALSTON

Nigel let his hair down on Friday

We had a second, amazing class with Nigel (seriously - if you are looking to learn Leadership - HIRE THIS MAN!)

The Gang

During this session we learned about the power of story and how to listen to the values that underlie them.

For more...check out the second video at the end...

SPEAKING OF RUNNING

Caleb McKillop

Natalie went to cheer him on. Caleb finished in 1:03 - a 7:45 pace!

YL CAPERNAUM

Me and Lizzie
Natalie joined us at Young Life Capernaum this Saturday. That girl was everywhere!

More friends
It was Knight and Princess Club.

HISPANIC LEAGUE

Lia had the honor of presenting an award at the Annual Hispanic League Gala

I was sitting there thinking to myself - how in the world am I married to the prettiest girl in the room?

I'm sure you're wondering the same thing

MY FIRST FELLOWS GROUPIE!

Arturo and Sarabeth Tegada
Before Sarabeth headed to the DR to work for Young Life and then date and then marry Arturo, she was my right hand woman for our inaugural class of the Fellows.

Yesterday, we had the chance to honor and bless her.

Congratulations Arturo and Sarabeth. We love you!

SHE BOUGHT A KAYAK!

Oh! And Morgan bought a kayak! And took it for a spin around Salem Lake!

COUNT DOWN TO THE D.R.

In less than a week, we will be hanging out at Club Bamboo in Cielo, home of Mission Emanuel!

And I will be getting to see this guy!

He is my well-fed Sponsor Child

I wonder if I'll even by able to lift him!

ON A SADDER NOTE

We had to say good-bye to our precious Winnie on Sunday.

Twelve and a half years ago

She had been suffering from cancer.

Yesterday

She was the best Frisbee dog I have ever seen. And she never lost the ability. She caught one yesterday. She finished on a catch, in fact.

Summer and Winnie

Summer is very sad. She hasn't eaten and every time she hears a noise at the door she runs up to see if it is her best friend. It is heartbreaking.

One of my favorite photos

This is one of my favorite pictures. We were on Stone Mountain, trying to take a family picture with the timer. We had given up on keeping Winnie still, so we left her to her druthers, which included running in circles around us at top speed. Somehow the camera caught her just as she was coming into view.

The toughest most fearless and affectionate dog I knew

UPDATE Week of April 16

Me and the gang

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT

Patricia and Tripp Wilson

Tripp and Patricia have been such a gift to the Fellows this year. They have not only hosted Morgan Bonds (this year is the first time in Morgan's life that she has lived apart from her identical twin!), but they have also hosted the Fellows for Round Table a record setting six times!

I get the feeling they actually like having us over.

We certainly love being invited.

Thanks Wilsons for loving us so well. Here is a photo of Morgan and their daughter Louisa on a trip earlier this year to Zootastic!

LEADER LUNCH with THE CHRIS PERRY

Chris hosted us at the Club!

Last year, I missed the opportunity to hear Chris because his Leader Lunch happened while we were on Spring Break. This year, I made sure I did not make the same mistake.

Chris Perry is a leader's leader. An hour and half is not even close to enough time to listen to all his story-weavings.

Thanks Chris - plan on speaking again next year.

SPEAKING OF LEADERSHIP

The Nigel Alston

On Friday, we began our final course of the year - Leadership Essentials with Nigel Alston.

Nigel had us moving from the start:

JP instructing us on intellectual inteligence

Grace instructing us on Action Orientation

Abbey, Morgan and Caleb are our Emotors

Nigel is the best.

He put together this video that encapsulated some of the fun from class one (I teared up watching it - thanks Nigel!)

there is no one better.

HELP OUR SISTER OUT!

Please DO THIS:

SHE IS ON PAGE 2 OF THE WEBSITE!!!!!!!!!
Jessica last spring in the Holy Land

This is only a little bittersweet. Our beloved Jessica has been accepted for the Masters of Arts Program at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, England where she will study Cultural Heritage and Museum Studies.

We are very proud of her, and of course will miss her very very much (and we hope one day she will come back!)

Please help Jessica out and VOTE FOR HER SCHOLARSHIP VIDEO

BIG PERFORMERS

Tucker doing his thang

Tucker and his band Famous Trees took over Charlotte this weekend.

You need to listen to these guys!!!!

David doing his thang

David was a cardboard box for the Third Grade Play.

How I love this dude

BIG WELCOME!!!

Two thumbs up for Laura Johnson

I want to be the first to welcome Laura Johnson to the Winston-Salem Fellows! Laura is a native of Winston-Salem and has spent the last four years at Furman where she has aced college.

She is a dynamo! And I can't wait to unleash her on Winston-Salem. This place will never be the same after Laura's done with it!

BIG THANKS!

Thank you to our supporters!
