UPDATE Week of May 23

ENDING WELL

My heart is full as I write the final update of the 2020-21 Fellows Year. My eyes are a little blurry and I can't blame it all on my allergies. And my whole body is tired.

But here we are.

ROUND TABLE POOL PARTY

We had an awesome "Last Round Table" with the Gupton family. It wasn't the warmest of evenings, but the pool was heated.

Especially the hot tub.

Can you tell we have gotten close this year?

LEADER LUNCH WITH ALLAN YOUNGER

At long last, we had the chance to hang out with my dear friend Allan Younger. He teaches on Wednesdays right when we have Leader Lunch, but we were able to snag him after the semester.

The dude is so cool and so full of wisdom. What a gift to have Allan in our city!

YL GOLF TOURNAMENT

Afterward, I cruised to the YL Golf Tournament to help out.

CJ Beatty I believe won the longest drive. Go figure.

If you come across a video going around with a person that looks like me and Murf, it wasn't us.

PEACE POLE

I had the privilege of being there to commemorate the planting of the Rotary Peace Pole at the William G. White YMCA

END WELL ADVANCE

Fellows don't retreat. We advance. So we headed to the hills for one final adventure together.

TUBING ADVENTURE

First stop was New River Outfitters for a Tube down the New River...go figure

The van ride is half the experience

We and the tubes made it back in one piece!

NCS FAMILY DAY

Saturday we went to the Epperson's Farm at Mount Ararat to serve and enjoy the day with NCS.

A group of us led worship

There was a bouncy house for all ages

The girls set the record for the number of people in a paddle boat.

They also hiked up prayer mountain

That night we made it back to the cabin for some hobo dinners

Yum

STONE MOUNTAIN

Sunday we had a little church on top of Stone Mountain

We did the full loop.

This is us on the way to the top

This is Hayes and me at the bottom

We chilled at the waterfall

Sam was super excited

And what day at Stone Mountain is complete without a little ice cream from the general store?

OWEN'S "B-DAY"

We celebrated Owen that night. It wasn't his birthday - but why wait?

WHITEWATER CENTER

Monday, we headed down the mountain to go to the National White Water Center

We did the Adventure circuit. And it was!

We also did the ropes course, zip line, hawk jump, rock climbing and mountain biking

A full day

That night we did one Fellows tradition, but I can't tell you about it.

LAST FULL DAY

Hayes, C-Fil and I wrote a song.

We chilled for most of the day

Code names got intense

We exchanged cards and then we did another End Well Fellows Tradition that I can't tell you about.

END WELL

The next morning, we worshipped together and did a proclamation ceremony where each Fellow stands before the others and shares their mission statement.

We ended with one last Fellows Tradition that I can't tell you about.

And one last photo

WITH A FLOURISH

But it didn't end there!

WFIRM and
DR. ANTHONY ATALA LEADER LUNCH

We came down the mountain for one bonus Leader Lunch with Tony Atala!

We were the first large group they had let in since the beginning of the pandemic!

One last Round Table
AT THE EPPERSONS

And we ended the day at the Epperson's home where C-Fil, Tori, and Rossi recited all of Romans 8 by heart!

Stu, Nancy, Jay and Jane Helvey held court and told stories and shared wisdom.

WHAT A NIGHT!

GIVE

Giving is fun!

And I know you are questioning what to do with all that stimulus money.

Why not give it, or some of it, to the Winston-Salem Fellows!

It's easy

write a check to

Winston-Salem Fellows. PO Box 20514. WSNC 27120

or give online

thanks!
