UPDATE Week of July 19

Sam pitches in after dinner at Round Table last Monday

Round Table

It was so good to be together last Monday for dinner at "The Girls House"

The previous year's Fellows bequeathed their house on Hawthorne street to four of the recent graduates of the Fellows Program.

After dinner, we gathered for worship and sharing. We had some "auxiliary fellows" join us which is always welcome. I love our growing community!

More to come. I am sure.

First Fellow

Louise Wittenberg with her mom, Jen.

We celebrated our first out of town arrival this week. Louise has started her Fellows job early. Jen and one of her sons, Luke, drove with Louise here from Orlando on Tuesday. They jumped right in with a pool party.

I have known this beautiful family since my time in Denver, Colorado. What a special reunion it was.

Welcome Louise. Jen, we promise to take good care of her!

Louise is getting a little taste of Host Family life as she will be living with us until the house is ready to move into.

NEEDED

We are in need of 6 Full Bed Frames for the Fellows House

contact ned@wsfellows.com if you have some to donate.

Zoom

Sunday night, we pulled together a quick impromptu Zoom with some former Fellows. It was so fun to catch up and celebrate national ice cream day together.

Owen and Sam gave us a tour of their new crib. Hayes lives there too but was not part of the tour.

What a sweet time to reconnect. Looking forward to the next one.

Small Group

Hef met Michelle at a small group at their church. Little did either of them know that it would lead to Michelle becoming a Fellow!

Now, that the program is over, Michelle might be permitted to rejoin the group.

They tested out the dynamics at Jolo last Saturday night.

It's amazing how beautiful the weather was at Pilot Mountain. Meanwhile, we got clobbered with thunderstorms down in the Dash.

Making it Work

AJ and Bailey make the most of the time they get together. Since our program ended and their relationship officially begun, they have had to spend it for the most part apart as AJ has been at Camp Lurecrest this summer serving as Program Coordinator and Bailey has started her job at Carolina University.

But they are making it work.

Hayes got a week vacation with family. Haley came to join them for a day or two before medical school started.

James and Caroline got to spend the week at the beach as well.

We really do love love at the Fellows.

Celebrity Status

On Thursday, I met these three awesome individuals. They contacted me on LinkIn and asked if I would be up for meeting them and signing their copies of my book Clay.

I said, "Sure!" not knowing if they were make believe computer algorithms or Russian Hackers.

Turns out they were real and we had a wonderful time in Mount Airy.

They work at a Children's Home in Virginia and after the kids there read my book, I hope to come up and pray them all a visit.

Wash-out

Me and Dave, Owen, Sam, Sam and Brad went to Bowman Gray Saturday and watched one full lap and one crash before the sky erupted and the races were cancelled. Good thing I was able to dry out our tickets as they are good for admission next week!

Triad Spikeball

Sunday, we played some Spikeball at Hanes Park. We had a few newcomers. Chris, who has been interning here this summer with Corning. And Matthew who just moved here with his wife. Matthew had seen us playing the last few weeks and asked if he could join us.

He is looking for community. I'd say he walked up on the right group!

We look good...ha!

Job Interviews

Sophie-Earle interviews with Camel City Goods and Airtype on Monday - she got the job!

Salem Sports is looking for warehouse workers. They are great paying jobs with full benefits. Let me know if you are interested.

I put up signs around Waughtown for them last week. Praying a few of them hit!

Coaches Award

We finished up Swim Team with a First Place in our division at City Championships on Monday.

At the awards dinner, David was given the Coaches Award for his drive to get better and push himself.

So proud of him.

Recruitment Update

It definitely feels like we are starting to pivot toward getting ready for next year.

I had a disappointing conversation with this guy Mark I have been working on all summer. I don't think he is at a point to pull the trigger. God bless him.

We are talking to one for female currently. We should be making a decision with her about moving forward on Wednesday. Pray for Anna!

Give

Bryn is a great reason to give to the Winston-Salem Fellows.

She moved here from West Chester, PA and fell in love. We were able to get her a job working for Forsyth County. She was promoted. As a gift, she helped raise $10,000+ for the Arts Council and has been leading a small group of young women.

She is committed to growing roots here and is working on getting her family to move here as well!

Above all, this last year she has learned to integrate her life fully in Jesus and because of it has grounded herself in her true identity. She is ten times more beautiful now than she was a year ago - and she was beautiful back then.

An investment in the Fellows is an investment and women like Bryn.

Make yours today.
