Halo everybody |
We started the day with a devotion from Chanice.
she came prepared |
Next - It was time to take in Athens.
The day started eventful. Mihalis dropped us off at the Metro station and as we were counting our troops, we realized we had left one back at the camp!
Bryan!
oops.
Or should I say - Oopa!
The acroolis of the old city |
One blessing was having Laura Johnson with us. She had studied abroad and had spent several days in Athens.
Our tour guide Laura |
From the Metro she led us through town to go see the famous changing of the guard in front of the Parliament Building.
There they are |
My audition |
Laura then led us to this park which is basically a secret passageway through the city.
It looked like a real Disneyworld |
We wound our way to an open aired European style cafe that served Gyros.
yum |
Then, we walked up to the stairs of the Acropolis Museum to meet our tour guide Nikki.
Nikki was great. For the next two and a half hours she took us all over the place. Teaching us about the history of Athens. The legends. The Myths. The Biblical significance.
She walked us up the Acropolis and taught us about the Parthenon.
I took this picture mostly for Anna Rose |
keeping the sun off was a challenge |
the theater |
in the park |
From the Acropolis, we walked down to the Aareopogus, where Paul gave his famous speech to the Athenians about the statue to the Unknown god.
Mathu reenacted it for us |
We then had free time to go and explore this beautiful city.
We then met up and took the Metro back to Kropoli. We washed up and then went to a restaurant that Mihalis calls "Heaven"
Y'all. It fit the bill. BEST MEAL EVER!
We ate like kings and queens and gave toasts and told funny stories and lived life the way it was meant to live.
What a day!
