UPDATE Week of June 15

Happy Birthday Haley!

There are so many things we love about this warm, talented woman. These three pictures you a little bit. Haley loves fun. She loves community. For her birthday, she wanted people at her house!

Haley also loves working with her hands. Earlier this spring she built her host family a picnic table. She is now working on a project for her roommate!

Haley also loves serving others. On her birthday, she spent two hours driving around Winston-Salem delivering lunches to hungry children and adults.

She is also brilliant - a future med student, who loves art history.

She is also competitive. If she gets a ball on her foot - watch out.

She also loves the Lord. She has placed him first in her life, and he shines through her wherever and whatever she is doing.

Haley was an exemplary Fellow. We wish her the happiest of birthdays!

I believe Mattie made this. Yum!

Gathering for her birthday on a picnic bench she built.

We celebrate you!

The Fellows love to celebrate. It is one of our principle values. It warms my heart that the tradition continues beyond the program. That is really what it's about!

The Week

We continue to stay close to the Black Lives Matter movement and seek pathways of relationship and understanding. We had several meaningful conversations this week - truly humbling and inspiring. A change is coming. I feel it.

We also continue to do the work of preparation. On Thursday, we had a great meeting with our Program Team as we began the brainstorming of Host Families, Churches and Employment Opportunities for next year.

This is where you all could help.

Do you feel called to be a HOST FAMILY?

"We are so grateful we said yes. Reiley is awesome. We love her like family." Hardt and Emily Bing

You, too, could have this experience! If interested please contact us at winstonsalemfellows@gmail.com

Do you have a desire to EMPLOY a Fellow?

"My job challenged me by sharpening my skills from the classroom to my work life. I am proud to continue my career with The Budd Group after the program concluded." Trent Hancock

Ae you in a position to broaden a person's horizons?

RECRUITMENT

No news to report. We have two outstanding offers. Hoping to hear back from the both this week. We had another great interview last week and are working through logistics currently.

All that to say - we are close. Not there yet. But close.

Pray we get some yesses this week.

Thanks!

GIVE

We were literally standing at the end of a rainbow (there was no pot of gold - I guess we will need to fundraise the old fashion way!)

We are about to ramp up our summer fundraising plan. Each year we do our best to raise the support we need prior to the program year.

This year, because of COVID, we needed to dip into reserves a bi, so this summer we will need your help to get us back to where we need to be.

The great news is the Winston-Salem Fellows is a Non-Profit in good standing. We are lean and mean. Sixty percent of our comes from tuition and church support. So each dollar you invest goes a long way.

Thanks for your support!

This Week

We have created a rough draft of our Matrix for the Fall with potential families, churches and employers.

It's time to start moving these things from possible to definite!

A great opportunity to pray.

OH! and a wedding out west with Bryan Pardue and Maddie Bolthouse!
