UPDATE Week of November 11

Haley Westerveldt and Christie Williams at our weekly Leader Lunch

CELEBRATION TIME

Come on! It was out first Fellows birthday of the year, and it couldn't have gone to a better guy: Greg McClinton.

Hef built a tower of S'Mores Rice Krispy Treats. Peter provided a smorgasbord of Chipotle and the Fellows brought the love.

What a night!

That is one way to light up a S'Mores!

There were people there not just SOLO cups

Greg may be a quarter century old, but he is still young at heart
On Friday, the Fellows went out to lunch and then hung out at Hef's house

SWEET VICTORY

Foothills Trivia Night

After weeks of attempts, the WS Fellows have finally arrived - 1st Place at Foothills Trivia!

The crowd went wild!

MELODY MAKING

Andrew Harvey of the Trinity Fellows and our very own Reiley Burris brought the house down with their beautiful duet last week

THE WEEK

Round Table

I look up to JM
Really I do

I mean, who doesn't?
Lots of love going around Monday night

Like I said

It really was a sweet evening. Greg shared that he had never been showered with so much love. It was honor to be the ones to do it. We love you Greg!

SPEAKING OF LOVE

We had leader lunch this week with almost the entire staff of Love Out Loud
Chuck did his best jujitsu to keep the conversation off himself despite my efforts to get him to share his story!

Liz made us some homemade chili
Jacob and Santiago - fine young men

We had a great time with Chuck and the gang. This year we are partnering with LOL for the service component of our program. If you haven't checked out BASE yet - you got to.

HERE IS THE LINK

Through this process, our Fellows are going to think about how their passions might line up with the needs of this community. We are going to let that guide the way they give their lives away.

SPEAKING OF LIFE GIVING

Two of our church partners had their Fall Youth Retreats together this weekend and our Fellows were there!

Salem and Nolan making a Brianne sandwich

Redeemer Presbyterian Youth

Church Youth Retreat
I'm beginning to think that Brianne is always in her element

MEANWHILE BACK AT THE BOWLING ALLEY

JM joined the entire McClinton family for a night of bowling!

It was payday so the Fellows treated themselves to Mama Zoe's

JUST BECAUSE I CAN

Thirteen years ago, Lia joined Forsyth Pediatrics as their newest physician.

An ad from the Winston-Salem Journal circa 2006
On Thursday night, she was honored as the Distinguished Physician of the Year at the annual Novant Founders Society Dinner.

She was beautiful and articulate and most deserving

Lia typically blocks me from coming to things like this - but this time she let me come.

I couldn't have been more proud.

GIVE

Thank you for your continued support of the Winston-Salem Fellows. We are about to begin our big fundraising push for the year, so if you want to get ahead of the game, send your financial support to

or give online at

RECRUITING

We are talking to several college seniors at the moment and awaiting applications. On Wednesday, I'll be driving up to Harrisonburg, VA to meet and speak with RUF at JMU. (Let me know if you have any connections for me!) Next Wednesday, I'll be heading to UNC-Chapel Hill for a Potential Fellows Reception and meet-up.

We have an interview this Tuesday with an excellent candidate.

All this to say - if you know of someone who would benefit from being a Fellow - please connect us. We will fill up!

OTHER WAYS TO HELP

We are beginning to work on our Monday night Round Tables for the Spring. If you are interested in providing a warm meal and a place for us to meet, worship and pray - let us know!

MORE FUN

Brianne has always liked motorcycles it seems

You know you are old when you go to one of your favorite Young Life guy's 40th birthday party

We have connected with a past owner of our house who is going to come over and teach us about her amazing garden!

no photos please!

Greg is aswinging

Fun times with Love Out Loud

I had a great time with Mike Robinson of Bingo Bango - drink one today!

Anna Rose has been working with Stu Epperson's pony - Foxglove. I think they are buds

Young Life circa 1998 - where are they now?

Thanks y'all.

One more fun nugget for those of you who read the whole UPDATE

Keep sharing the story and spreading the love.
