UPDATE Week of October 15

Laura and Bryan both medaling in their age group at the RAH on Saturday
I don't know about you but last week was a real doozy.

I'm proud of the Fellows - they really made the most of it.

ROUND TABLE

Bill and Myrtie Davis.

We call it Round Table even though sometimes the table is rectangular

Name tags - just in case we forget our names...

LEADER LUNCH

Yasser Youssef

and friends!

The Budd Group

Some of Yasser's most memorable lines...

"In every moment I have the ability to choose mercy."

"Nothing happens without experiencing the cross of Christ in your life."

"At the end of the day, it really is all about love."

That's the kind of guy I want to work for!

Thank you Yasser for your humility and hospitality.

And thank you Ashley, Halston and Brad for coming along as well. What a lunch!

Afterwards the Fellows went to the Williams Adult Day Care Facility to hang out with some new old friends...

Bryan met this new old friend

Several of our fellows volunteered and ran at this year's Run Against Hunger - RAH!

Laura did the 5k and 10k and won her age group.

Bryan won his age group as well I think.

THE DIRECTOR'S WEEK

Monday and Tuesday, we were on fall break for school - aka trying to parent and work at the same time.

Wednesday was double-booked all afternoon.

Thursday there was a hurricane, and our dear sweet Lucy suffered a life-ending stroke.

This is our last picture of Lucy. Sept 25th. Her 89th birthday.

I spent the afternoon with her family as we took her off life support. We circled around her and told her how much we loved her and laughed over endless stories. Lucy brought so much joy to our lives. She will always be one of our most treasured family members.

She held on until Friday morning, taking her last breath just as the sun rose over Winston-Salem.

We will be celebrating her life on Tuesday morning at 11am at Hope Presbyterian Church.

Lia on her little plane

Lia was supposed to leave us on Wednesday to go to a board meeting in the Dominican Republic, but there was a hitch in the plane's electronics and a little hurricane in the way.

She ended up leaving Friday morning.

the Bahamas
Anna Rose, David and I hung out without power Thursday through Saturday.

Reese and Julia came over for pre-marital counseling in the dark Friday night!

I was very glad when the power came back on Saturday and gladder when Lia returned Sunday.
