UPDATE Week of June 14

WELCOME TO SUMMER

After a two week break the Fellows UPDATE is back with a well-rested director and some fun news that occurred while I was gone.

ENDINGS AND BEGINNINGS

Saying good-bye to these wonderful midwesterners was not easy. Caroline is back in Kentucky and Emily is back in Illinois. Both are working this summer and preparing for grad school in the fall.

Our beloved Tori and her mentor Deb. Tori is traveling at the moment and will be landing in Raleigh.

Bryn, Bailey, Hayes and Owen have a meal at Owen's home. These four have transitioned into full time jobs. They, along with several others, are sticking around Winston for the foreseeable future.

ARTS COUNCIL MEETS GOAL

Bryn co-chaired the United Way's Art Council Fundraiser last week

The team met their goal of $10,000!

And she got to do art at work!

PRAY FOR POPS

Many of you already know this. My father, Richard, suffered a major stroke about a month ago. His recovery has been absolutely amazing, but there is still a long way to go.

Please join us and pray for him - particularly that his memory (short term and visual recognition) and vision will be fully restored.

thanks!

I was able to spend a week with him once our program ended. It coincided with his birthday! My sister and niece baked him a beet cake, which tasted like cake not beets, fortunately!

AUNT MEGHAN

Meghan is back in Birmingham also prepping for Grad School. While there, she was able to hold her new nephew in her arms.

She is a natural wouldn't you say?

Three generations together

LOVE IS IN THE AIR

BIG NEWS!

Tim Spangler, Class of 2019, and Kate Donahoo, Class of 2018 got engaged!

Tim did it right, proposing by the Old Well at Davidson College. Go Cats.

WE ARE SO EXCITED TO CELEBRATE WITH THEM!

Incoming Fellow Luke Hoffman also isn't messing around. He proposed to his sweet girlfriend as well!

Congratulations Luke and Montana!

RECRUITING

We are beyond excited to be welcoming Jameson Filston to the Fellows Program this upcoming year. He is a graduate of the University of Georgia with a Film and Journalism background.

You may recognize his last name. He is related to last year's Fellow Caroline.

Jameson is definitely going to bring the creativity into the program next year. We couldn't be more excited.

NEW BOARD MEMBERS

We are also thrilled to announce three new board members!

Cyndy Barnes has been a mentor with us this year. The above picture is with Meghan Beck, her mentee. She attends First Pres (and is married to the Pastor!). Cyndy has a ministry background that goes back decades. Her particular passion is young twenty somethings. We are so happy she is getting more involved! I have no doubt she will be running the show before we know it!

Justin Bailey is also joining us. He works at Bellamy Research and attends Salem Chapel. He and his wife are in a small group with Hef and her husband. Justin and I run with F3 together. He joined me for our crazy Moji run a few years back. He is a strategic thinker and a man of deep faith.

Dr. Anthony Jones is also joining our board this year. He pastors a church in East Winston as well as works in community health. He has become a very dear friend not only to me but to our Fellows. His class last fall was one of our favorites!

VACATION TIME

I don't usually take this much time off, but we took Memorial Day to be with friends. Then, I spent a week helping my parents get situated. Then, we took the family on our yearly Mexico adventure.

It gets better every year.

Please consider giving to the Fellows. We are a non-profit like no other. But like other non-profits we need financial support in order to do all the things we do.
